Friends of Oakland Communications, a New Jersey based, all-volunteer non-profit corporation, aims to raise and seek funds for special communications related projects and initiatives, encourage and support volunteerism on communications based Borough entities, and assist the Borough of Oakland, New Jersey to carry out these projects and initiatives.
Our Projects Aim to Benefit Every Single Resident, Business, Non-Profit, and Volunteers in Oakland, NJ
We seek to support the work of the Oakland Communications Commission and its committees: the Television Committee, Newsletter Committee, Bulletin Board Committee, and Welcome, Website, and Social Media Committee.
Through fundraisers, grants, and other creative avenues available to non-profit organizations, we aim to help the Borough communicate effectively with all residents, businesses, and visitors. This includes day-to-day activities, yearly plans and projects, and larger initiatives that require greater funding, collaboration, and flexibility than a governmental entity can easily provide.
What Projects Do You Support?
According to our bylaws, the Friends of Oakland Communications were "created to assist the Borough of Oakland, NJ and its Communications Commission (and its subcommittees) in raising funds for large scale communication related projects, to support the everyday needs of the Communications Commission and its committees, to lessen the burden of taxpayers by applying for grants that can be used to support initiatives supported by the Corporation, and to serve as an additional conduit for improvements to Oakland’s communication with the entire community."
Our main job is to listen to the volunteers who are serving on the Communications Commission and its committees, the Borough government, and those in the greater Oakland community to see how communications functions and services could be improved, what initiatives could be accomplished, and how all that can happen with no or the smallest impact possible on local taxpayers.
