Borough Wide Bulletin Board

The Oakland Bulletin Board is committed to improving accessibility and engagement for residents of Oakland, New Jersey by introducing a network of strategically placed screens across the community. These screens will make our television bulletin board resources more visible and convenient for everyone who lives and works in the area. By expanding beyond online streaming and traditional cable formats to air the bulletin board, we aim to foster greater awareness of local events and facilitate timely communication among neighbors.

Our plan is to identify key locations that naturally attract foot traffic and serve as gathering points for Oakland’s residents. Potential sites include popular parks, Borough Hall, the Library, and popular shopping areas. By situating these screens airing our Bulletin Board at these frequently visited locations, we will ensure that important community information reaches a broad audience, including those who may not regularly access online resources or printed flyers.

To make this expansion possible, the Oakland Bulletin Board Committee will acquire modern display equipment tailored for outdoor and indoor use. Each location would have a weather-resistant screen, designed for clear visibility and easy maintenance. An option could be to provide both digital and printed announcements at each location, merging technology with traditional methods to accommodate diverse preferences within our community. The equipment will be chosen based on durability, accessibility, and its capability to feature multiple messages simultaneously.

Once set up, local organizations, clubs, and municipal departments will be encouraged to contribute content regularly to the Bulletin Board Committee. Residents could then expect to see announcements about Borough meetings, recreation programs, school activities, non-profit events, volunteer opportunities, and emergency alerts.

To achieve seamless integration, we will consult with community members, local businesses, and government officials to determine optimal placements for each screen. Our goal is to maximize exposure while respecting the aesthetics and space requirements of each site.

Maintaining the kiosks and updating content will need to be a collaborative effort. Designated volunteers and existing staff at each location will need to monitor the equipment and inform the Bulletin Board Committee of any issues at their location.

We believe that these enhancements will significantly improve communication across Oakland, making it easier for everyone to stay informed, get involved, and feel connected to local happenings. By investing in accessible display equipment and choosing the best possible locations, the efforts of the Oakland Bulletin Board Committee will be able to extend beyond just television/live streaming broadcast and be a service that everyone in the community could take advantage of.
